Overview
Kandy Lake, also called Bogambara Lake, sits quietly at the center of Sri Lanka’s hill capital. Built in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, the lake brings calm to the busy city around it.
A shaded walking path surrounds the lake, perfect for a morning stroll or evening walk. Along the way, you’ll see temples, gardens, and sometimes even monitor lizards resting by the water.
The lake reflects the sky, nearby trees, and city lights—creating beautiful photo opportunities throughout the day. It also sits next to the Temple of the Tooth, making it easy to explore both at once.
Kandy Lake isn’t just a place to relax. It’s part of the city’s soul, linking history, nature, and culture in one peaceful setting.
