Overview

Dondra Lighthouse, the tallest in Sri Lanka, stands proudly at the island’s southernmost point. Its striking white tower rises 49 meters above sea level.

Surrounded by coconut palms and turquoise ocean, the lighthouse offers stunning coastal views. On clear days, you can see far across the horizon and feel the cool sea breeze on your face.

The area around the lighthouse is peaceful, perfect for a short walk or a photo stop. Though climbing the tower is no longer allowed, the structure still impresses with its elegance and historic charm.

It’s a must-see landmark near Matara.
